Stevens' works are living remains, present and absent, body and landscape.  Burlap shrouds bear imprints of transition and mark a spirit that still lingers. A fence is an illusion of a barrier.  Heads cut from fabric printed with depictions of the natural world are filled with painted scenery and reflections.  Stevens' images are elemental and solid, functioning on the level of symbol and myth.

These pieces are not so much concerned with outward images, as they are with interiority and transformation. They present as primal, archetypal.

Stevens has had exhibitions in the United States, Germany, and Mexico. Another solo presentation, Amérique, also opens in May at Atelier Anne-Lise Coste in Vicq-le-Fesq, France. This summer, she will mount a two-person show at Bushel in Delhi, New York.  She lives and works in New York and Walton, NY.
