About us
Slag Gallery was established in New York in 2008, while RX Gallery was founded in Paris in 2002. In 2021, the two galleries joined forces, forming SLAG&RX in New York and RX&SLAG in Paris. This transatlantic alliance created a dynamic partnership rooted in the mutualization of both galleries’ expertise within the French and American art scenes. Together, they foster a platform that supports a vibrant generation of contemporary artists while deepening the representation of historically significant transatlantic practices.
SLAG&RX, which evolved from Slag Gallery, is now located in the heart of Chelsea. Since its inception, the gallery has emphasized sustained, long-term support for its artists at all stages of their careers. Through the publication of catalogs, participation in major international art fairs, and exchange programs with cultural institutions, SLAG&RX actively contributes to the professional development of both emerging and established artists. The gallery also initiates and develops outdoor and site-specific projects in collaboration with public and private partners.
SLAG&RX has been involved in significant institutional collaborations, notably within the framework of the France–Korea Year, working with institutions such as the Musée Guimet, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Saint-Étienne, the Musée Cernuschi, the Château de Chambord, and the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire. More recently, the gallery collaborated on a tribute to Hermann Nitsch in France in partnership with the Musée de l’Orangerie (2023–24).
Artists represented by SLAG&RX have participated in numerous biennials and major museum exhibitions worldwide and continue to present their work in leading international institutions and art events. The gallery maintains an active presence at prominent art fairs, including Paris Photo, Art Paris, Art Brussels, the Armory Show, and FAB Paris, for which it is a member of the selection committee. Central to SLAG&RX’s mission is a commitment to nurturing sustainable and critically engaged artistic careers.
With a global outlook, SLAG&RX reinforces its international presence through its ongoing partnership with RX Paris. This collaboration positions the Chelsea gallery within a broader global framework, enabling the exchange of artists, ideas, and curatorial perspectives across borders. The partnership expands the reach and visibility of the artists represented by both galleries, while continuously renewing the intellectual and artistic dialogue at the core of the program.
