Leandro Júnior
Biography

Leandro Júnior de Sousa is a São Paulo-based Brazilian painter and sculptor who studied arts at Faculdade São Luiz de Jaboticabal, in the interior of São Paulo state. This 2020-’21 season, Júnior’s work has been exhibited at the National Museum, Brasília; Central Galeria, São Paulo; and Slag Gallery, New York. In June he will have a solo exhibition in São Paulo at Instituto Santo Amaro, and participate in a group exhibition at the Museum of Sacred Art, São Paulo. In addition to his full-time studio practice, the artist has for over ten years been committed to social outreach teaching art making to teenagers from Quilombo de Cuba and other quilombola communities. Currently, Leandro Júnior continues his artistic residency in São Paulo through Simon Watson Arts Artist in Residence program.
