RX&SLAG is delighted to present Little Deaths a solo exhibition featuring recent works by Tirtzah Bassel. This is Bassel's first solo show at RX&SLAG, Paris.

In her inaugural exhibition at the esteemed RX&SLAG in Paris, Tirtzah Bassel presents a continuation of her long-standing project, "Canon in Drag." Commencing three years prior, the initial presentation of this thought-provoking series debuted in 2022 at the SLAG & RX in New York. Centered around the deconstruction of societal norms perpetuated by patriarchal structures, Bassel draws inspiration from an ancient Mesopotamian myth, specifically the embodiment of Inanna/Ishtar. As an incomparable deity of love and war, Inanna/Ishtar exudes unwavering power and embraces her autonomy. Indeed, it is from this ancient narrative, relayed by history's very first poet, that Bassel masterfully dismantles established codes and reimagines the annals of artistic history. By presenting fresh imagery, Bassel ingeniously seeks to stimulate a collective reboot of consciousness.
