SLAG&RX and Rail Curatorial Projects is proud to present the ninth installment of “Singing in Unison: Artists Need to Create on the Same Scale That Society Has the Capacity to Destroy,” a multi-venue series of exhibitions that aims to foster unity in light of our recent social political climate. Singing in Unison, Part 9, in collaboration with Rail Curatorial Projects, is presenting a selection of paintings by Peter Acheson in dialogue with sculptures by Gret Sterrett Smith. Both artists are products of countercultural movements that reject American jingoism and consumerism, and have shared a lifelong interest in the Jungian theory of the collective unconscious, considering alchemy’s dual nature—the chemical and mystical—which has shaped their lives. Though they each have deeply contemplated in different ways the visionary lineage that can be traced back to the works of Carl Jung, Albert Pinkham Ryder, Robert Duncan, Jess, Diane di Prima, James Hillman, Michael Heizer, Gillian Jagger, Martin Puryear to Ron Gorchov, Ursula von Rydingsvard, and Bill Jensen, both Acheson and Smith yield a similar affinity in respect to their pictorial processes.

SLAG & RX is pleased to announce, "Half Past Paradise," an exhibition featuring over a dozen new works by the Berlin-based artist Paul Wesenberg. This highly anticipated exhibition marks Wesenberg's third solo show at our New York gallery. The title of the exhibition is a quote from the renowned poet and art critic Barry Schwabsky’s book of poetry Water from Another Source (Spuyten Duyvil, New York 2023). However, Paul Wesenberg does not attempt to interpret Schwabsky’s poem. Instead, he uses it as a starting point and inspiration for his own visual journey beyond words and language. The poem becomes a fertile ground for the self-reflection and examination of the relationship between men and nature.

SLAG&RX is delighted to announce Rap Painting, featuring recent works by Zahar Vaks. This marks Vaks's first solo exhibition with SLAG&RX - New York. In Rap Painting, Zahar Vaks transcends boundaries, ignites emotions, and skillfully layers metaphors, just like a rap performer crafts words and rhythm to convey vibrant stories and social critiques. Whether it's the visual poetry of the paintings or the poetic verses that seamlessly flow through the beats, both art forms possess the power to inspire, incite change, and leave a profound impact on their audiences.
