"DARK POOLS AND DATA LAKES"

September 07, 2018 to October 07, 2018
Dark Pools and Data Lakes presents works that speak to perceptions of power as it appears in different guises: political, informational, techno-mechanical, and biological. Perspective grids, which represent displays of power, are shifted via systems of multi-point vanishing lines, complicating a clear position and revealing its interrelated dominion structures.
Chris D'Acunto and Sarah Fuhrman

"THE CHILDLIKE LIFE"

July 27, 2018 to August 26, 2018
Slag Gallery is pleased to present the two-person exhibition The Childlike Life featuring new works by Chris "Dacs" D'Acunto and Sarah Fuhrman. The Childlike Life, the name of Chris D'Acunto and Sarah Fuhrman’s two-person show, comes from Kathy Acker’s 1973 debut novella The Childlike Life of the Black Tarantula. Mashing dramatized autobiography with pornography and appropriated texts from canonical authors such as Charles Dickens and Marcel Proust, Acker’s novella is as much as a collage as it is a work of fiction.
Alex Yudzon

Main Gallery : "COMMON TABLE"

June 21, 2018 to July 22, 2018
Slag Gallery is pleased to present in the main gallery Common Table, a solo exhibition of new photographs by Alex Yudzon. In his latest series of photographs, Alex Yudzon presents a visually sumptuous group of tableaus depicting modern day vanitas still lifes and baroque figures.
Hannah Cole

Project Room: "WRONG SIDE OF THE BORDER"

June 21, 2018 to July 22, 2018
Slag Gallery is pleased to present in the project room Wrong Side of the Border, a new body of work by Hannah Cole. Wrong Side of the Border, a series of water-color paintings of weeds, is the result of filtering Appalachia through Cole's lens. The artist has here arrived at the exemplar of an outcast: the class lacks official definition, its members not merely undesirable, but characterized by their existing on the wrong side of a highhanded border.
Guy Van Bossche

Main Gallery: "WAITING INTERNSHIP"

May 13, 2018 to June 10, 2018
Slag Gallery is pleased to present in the main gallery Stage Wachten (Waiting Internship) a solo exhibition of new works by Guy Van Bossche. Working to meta-expressive ends - sociological, political and philosophical -, Van Bossche's work possesses the extraordinary ability to plunge the viewer into the undependable world of reflections. The penetrating profundity of his work rewards deep viewing.
Molly Stevens

Project Room: "GROUND"

May 13, 2018 to June 10, 2018
Slag Gallery is pleased to present in the project room a new body of work by Molly Stevens. These pieces are not so much concerned with outward images, as they are with interiority and transformation. They present as primal, archetypal.
Dumitru Gorzo

"SCULPTURE 56 // BEYOND AND WITHIN"

April 13, 2018 to May 16, 2018
Gorzo’s sculptural language combines modern and traditional in a lyrical way raising questions about the nature of forms: how volume relates to space, what makes an artwork tangible, and the honesty of aesthetics.
Naomi Safran-Hon

"A ROOM WITH NO EXIT"

February 16, 2018 to April 01, 2018
Naomi Safran-Hon creates work that makes gripping statements about the fragility of human experience, the complicated nature of one’s home, and the vicissitudes of collective identities.
Tina Schwarz

"A DOLLAR, A DIME, A VERY THIN PENNY"

January 09, 2018 to February 06, 2018
Tina Schwarz draws from ancient myth and philosophy as much as from contemporaneity, and offers the viewer allegoric, riddle-steeped dynamic processes suspended in time–the dynamism at the forefront is embodied as much in her expressively bent and transformed figures, as in the space her protagonists thusly dissect, organize, and vitalize. Imbued with affect, with dream, with bodily-attuned beat, the scope of Schwarz’s paintings is much wider still: her concern is with ways of living and dying and feeling. [ Langer, Susanne K. (1953).
